What can you do?

We all have a role to play in this fight - parents, teachers, healthcare providers, and concerned citizens alike. Let's unite to tackle this issue, because fentanyl awareness isn't just someone else's problem - it's ours to solve.

A Small Amount of Fentanyl Can be Deadly

The DEA says that 2 milligrams (mg) of dry powder
fentanyl is a “potentially lethal dose.”

“Fentanyl is the single deadliest drug threat our nation has ever encountered.  Fentanyl is everywhere.  From large metropolitan areas to rural America, no community is safe from this poison.  We must take every opportunity to spread the word to prevent fentanyl-related overdose death and poisonings from claiming scores of American lives every day.”

— DEA Administrator Anne Milgram

Know The Facts

Below are 7 key facts you need to know about this crisis.

  1. Illicit fentanyl is being used to make fake prescription pills and is also found in common street drugs like cocaine, MDMA and heroin.

  2. Often consumed unknowingly by users, illicit fentanyl is driving the recent increase in U.S. overdose deaths.

  3. Fake pills have been found in all 50 states. Assume any prescription pill you see online is fake, including Oxy, Percocet, Adderall and Xanax.

  4. Fake pills are the main reason fentanyl-involved deaths are highest and fastest growing amongst youth.

  5. Fentanyl is involved in more American youth deaths than heroin, meth, cocaine, benzos, and RX drugs COMBINED.

  6. Fentanyl is involved in more deaths of Americans under 50 than any other cause of death, including heart disease, cancer, homicide, suicide, and other accidents.

  7. If you see someone with overdose symptoms, call 911 right away. Good Samaritan laws in the U.S. protect those who report overdoses.

There are several ways individuals and organizations can increase awareness and help save lives

• Talk to your loved ones. Have an open dialogue with your family and friends about the issue. Ask questions about their awareness of fentanyl in fake pills and street drugs and outline steps for how they can protect themselves.

• Know the signs of an overdose and be prepared to call 911.

• Locate Naloxone (Narcan) near you and learn how to administer it.

• Post about the issue on social media. Re-share content from our Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn accounts using the hashtag #FentaNO #FentanylStopsHere
